"Why should we're afraid of that?" said one of the boys.
"So many people got trauma and of course my family."
"Why is that?" Ben asked.
"My grandpa was almost killed at that time."
"Your grandpa was almost killed, my grandpa died and we never know where his body is. Who got more trauma then? Your family or mine?" Sean added.
Since I am dating this man (not the man above, the man here is my beloved T), I have something different in my life. It can be said too, my life is changed. The cynical you brought and put into my life makes my point of view sharpened and wider. You described me how horrible your island is. Start from how do the government creates it into the worse tourism industry like putting women under everything, binding every person with the never ending ritual, until how shallow your people's mind in seeing everything around them. And the worse, the unseen wide gap between the insider and outsider.
Who never thought that beneath that great hotel and beautiful beach which is incense scented is mass graves? Does the tourist who sit in a nice fancy restaurant who are having a glass of champagne knows about that? Do the surfers who ride on his wives (wave) and holding bintang realize that there is a slum area in Denpasar which has to struggle for living? When I saw one of foreigner photographers who was holding a very expensive camera to shoot the moments of one big ritual in one of big temples, I always have this question in my mind, does he think about those people who do the procession are really enjoy and willing to do the ritual or no? About the fine that they have to pay if they do not join it, and they have to take the day off from office which is their boss will deduct their salary. What a life we have. What a place we step on now?
Mass grave, yeah, what kind of society which is able to create it? 8% people in your island were murdered in 1965 from 1 million population.
I never thought before that I will deal with the complicated story of your family in this tiny island. So far a away the difference between us, but all those differences that we bound are so wonderful. So many great moments we have been shared and built.
